Greenhouse Gardening Changed My Life

A true story is always the best story and to be able to tell a true story you have to experience it first for it to be true. So I'm going to share with you my true story about a serious health issue that hit me by surprise. It changed my life and my way of eating. I now believe in greenhouses and gardens more than ever. This is my story and let me explain what I have learned and how it can benefit you.

We are always hearing something about all the processed foods in our grocery stores today. What to eat and what not to eat. Foods that are being recalled for various reasons. With the food I get from my garden I know what I'm getting and what is going into my body. Also, having a garden gives me the necessary exercise each person needs on a daily basis to stay healthy. Therefore, I am benefiting from my garden by getting my daily exercise, getting healthy foods and foods I like, and saving a tremendous amount of money every month.

I didn't see the money savings so much until at the end of the year when I looked at how much I spend in each area of my life as a total. My health care cost, such as doctor visits, lab test, and medicines was cut back from approximately $800.00+ a month to almost $0.00 a month. I can't grow my own doctor or prescription medicines so there are still some medical cost that we can't get away from. Still my overall health cost has been reduced significantly since having a garden. Allowing me to afford to eat healthier and not having to pay the high price for the healthier foods. My food cost was cut back by 50% to 75% depending on what I grew in the garden. That's a tremendous savings for anyone.

So let's look at this in dollar amounts. If I spent a minimum of $150.00 a week at the grocery store, that's $600.00 a month on basic food cost, and this is processed food which is not the best for you or your health. With having a garden I spend no more than $200.00 to $300.00 a month on food cost at the grocery store and it is totally healthy for me. Basic medical cost was $150.00 just to walk in the doctor's office, lab test on average is $100.00 to $350.00 or more depending on what your having tested and how often, then medicine is averaged monthly at $100.00 to $500.00 and again depending on what and how much you need.

Below I will show you the low and high cost of each area, food and medical before I had a garden and after I planted a garden. The savings in real dollars is beyond belief and the health benefit is just as hard to believe. My doctors are still amazed at the health results as I am.

Before Garden Cost

    Monthly Medical Cost - $350.00 to $1,000.00

    Monthly Food Cost - $400.00 to $800.00

After Garden Cost

    Monthly Medical Cost - $0.00 to $350.00

    Monthly Food Cost - $150.00 to $250.00

Monthly Savings

Monthly Medical Savings; $350.00 to $650.00

Monthly Food Savings; $250.00 to $550.00

Total Savings

Monthly total Medical and Food Savings;$600.00 to $1,200.00

Yearly total Medical and Food Savings; $7,200.00 to $14,400.00

I didn't even include the gas prices on this study and everyone is starting to look at how much it cost in gas today to get to these places. So with that in mind then there are more savings that need to be added to the total picture. By having a garden and not having to pay the price of gas to go to the store as often that makes for an added bonus. Because it's not just one trip to the store, but two trips since we always have to take that extra trip back to the store for something we have forgotten.

These are averages estimated and will vary depending on your own personal lifestyle, amount of doctor visits, medicines, amount of people you feed and the amount of food each person eats. Therefore, it is impossible to have one set amount of savings for every home. Every home will have their own amount of savings. The more people involved the more savings involved. These estimates were based on a family of two adults and children that visit, but do not live in the home all the time.

When looking at these amounts of savings I have to ask myself why did I wait so long to do this and how did I ever make it without a garden. Some say they don't have time for a garden or don't have a green thumb. OK, so neither do I. However, when it comes to saving money, staying alive and living life, then like most people I'm all ears. I never would listen to anyone telling me to plant a garden. Until I let someone do it for me and watched the food savings and my health improve tremendously.

I was almost on my death bed and now I'm healthier than most people with the same health issues. I was told I am type II diabetic along with other health problems. They put me on medication and told me what to eat and what not to eat. Doctors said I would have to stay on my medication and this was my new way of life. Well, I'm here to tell you that having a garden really changed all that and not just with the money savings in food. Yes, I'm still diabetic. However, I no longer have to take prescription medicine, don't have to worry about what I eat as much because I am now called a diet controlled diabetic. Again, I saved on medical with less doctor visits, less lab test, and less medicines to take.

So let's think about this now. What is most important to you? The answer should be you and without your health there is no you. Just another sick person in and out of the hospital and someone telling them what to eat and what to do. Why do I want to spend all my time going from this job to that job, and then at the end of the month have nothing but more headaches, more body aches, more bad health issues and now less money from all of it. We still have to eat to survive and stay healthy and what's the best way to achieve it.

Greenhouses kits are becoming a new way of life for many. The future is going green and it's time for you to come join the rest of us before it's to late. It's time to take control of your health, your eating habits, your financial troubles and turn it all around to start living a healthier lifestyle for yourself.

Buy a greenhouse kit and you'll have your own grocery store right there in your own yard or in your apartment and stock the grocery store with the foods you like and eat. I mean, why stock the grocery store for everyone, unless your in the food business, to include items your not interested in, don't cook or eat. And then pay the higher price for the items you do like. With the money saved, look at savings above, you would have more than enough to buy that round house garden kit (hoop greenhouse), hot house, or cold frame greenhouse. They are not that expensive when you look at the actual savings every month or on a yearly basis.

Since food is something everyone needs to stay healthy then consider what the best way to eat healthy, stay healthy and save money. How can you save money in these area's of your life? It's all a matter of simple lifestyle changes that people take for granted everyday.

It stands to reason the healthier you are, the less you will spend on medical expenses. Therefore, there is a direct link between the foods you eat and how much you spend on medical expenses? Having a garden and eating fresh foods from your garden is one of the best and healthiest things you can do for yourself.

When your having a good day and feel healthy you don't think much about it. Then when you get sick you start thinking about what you want and what you need to eat to get healthy again. So how can you continue to feel and be healthy all the time? By getting the proper amount of the right foods, exercise and sleep.

Some of the foods people eat daily are full of empty nutrients and are just a filler to get them past the hunger craving. Other foods are full of nutrients that the body needs to stay healthy and provide us with energy. For example; a person with a cold may need vitamin C so they eat some fruit. Another example is when the body needs some protein so they eat something that has protein in it. Do you think about what nutrients you are eating every time you eat something? Of course not and you are not alone in this way of thinking.

Many people go through life everyday and give it very little thought and assume they have no control over their health but, this is not true. Everyone has control over their health and many health issues can be controlled with what you eat or how it is prepared. There are some diseases that people can not stop from getting but, you can still manage these diseases and control them instead of the disease controlling you.

What is meant by that is simply don't let the disease consume you. When you are diagnosed with a disease you have two choices. You can become the disease and let the disease control your life or you can manage the disease and control the disease and still live your life normally. Many people prefer the latter of the two choices but, don't know how to do it.

Anytime a person has to make a change in their life it is scary and it doesn't need to be that way. Change is simply doing something in a different way. When you do it enough times then this new way of doing things has become normal and a part of a daily routine. Then after awhile of doing it this new way then it's not so scary and has become easy. A new normal way of life for you. Therefore you have accepted the changed that needed to take place, made the change and now you're no longer scared of the change.

When you think about the foods that are purchased in a grocery store, they are more of the processed foods. It is a normal way of life to go to the grocery store to buy your foods. Stores always carry a variety of foods, some canned and some fresh. Are these foods the best for you and your health? Which do you purchase and how much does it cost? The fresh foods always cost more and these are the healthiest foods for the body.

When you have a garden you know what you're getting. You know it is fresh food and it will keep you healthier longer and save on medical expenses. It will also help you save on food since you can now buy less foods from the grocery store. These foods are also healthier for you and you get exercise taking care of a garden.

When you think about the cost of these types of foods it is always easiest to choose the canned or processed foods from the store because they are the cheapest at the moment. However, the processed foods lead to an unhealthier lifestyle and you will spend more money on your health and medical cost in the long run. When looking at the big picture, overall these foods are no longer the cheapest anymore and become the most expensive.

Medical expense will cost more than when you take care of yourself and eat right. When you're getting good amounts of fresh foods, exercise and get the rest your body needs you naturally stay healthier. Planting and growing your own food will allow you to know exactly what you're getting and what is going in your body. You'll save more money having a garden, you'll get good daily exercise and a good nights rest. Thus, saving money on your food and medical expenses.

It doesn't take much time or effort to have a garden and grow your own food. Greenhouses and greenhouses kits are ideal for people in the city, apartments, townhouses and any small living area. They come in various sizes and allow people without big yards to still have a garden.

Gardens and Greenhouses make a wise investment into your future.

Natural Healing is healthier for us and saves us money on prescription medicines.

There are a lot of options in medicine today. There are wonder drugs, treatments, and hopes for cures. However, many people are choosing to practice the art of natural healing. Is this a new wave treatment option?

No. Quite simply it is your body’s natural germ fighting capabilities. People have been practicing many of these techniques for years. The Native Americans had the knowledge of using different members of Mother Earth to heal and protect their people. The Ancient Chinese unlocked the powers of teas and other herbs combined with certain breathing techniques to keep them well for years.

A good definition of natural health is an eclectic form of alternative medicine which claims to build and restore health and wellness through diet, exercise, and the use of a variety of alternative medicine treatments." There are many forms of natural healing that one can choose from. Some may find a form that will help them with a particular ailment but others try to find a balance form that will allow them to improve their overall health.

Alternative medicine is a term often used together with natural healing. It covers all topics of healing that do not conform to conventional medicine—meaning finding another form of healing instead of just popping a pill created and manufactured by a drug company. There are a variety of forms that a person can utilize. Some of the more common would include:

Homeopathy – Using compounds of what is making a person ill and then diluting it with water. Almost building an immunity by being exposed in small doses.

Naturopathy – This emphasizes the body’s ability to heal and maintain itself using a variety of treatments. A few examples would be: diet, exercise, colonic draining, therapy, and many more.

Acupuncture – A technique using fine needles that are inserted and manipulated into specific points of the body. These are supposed to relieve pain and provide therapy. These points of the body have a certain energy flow throughout the body

Chiropractic care – This focuses on the musculoskeletal system and the effects it has on the nervous system and the rest of the body. It uses spinal adjustment and soft-tissue manipulation to treat such needs. If you want to learn more about the awesome world of chiropractic care, click here.

Midwifery – This practitioner specializes in women’s reproductive health. More specifically during the birthing process. This person (be it man or woman) would advise in prenatal care, during the birth, and postpartum.

Herbal medicine – Plants and plant extracts are used in this practice of natural healing. Some are from traditional practices and others basing their remedies on folklore.

Herbal greenhouse garden - Having a greenhouse to grow your herbal medicines in year round will help keep you healthy all year. Greenhouse purchases can be found at  www.salegreenhouse.com

Natural healing and alternative medicine go hand in hand. Some of these practices use spiritual, metaphysical, or religious backgrounds. Some are from pre-modern medical traditions or approaches to healing that have been newly invented to fit our lifestyles and present beliefs.

Is This A New Idea?

You have heard about natural healing and a natural lifestyle, but how new is it? Many of these practices do date back to many centuries ago and some your own grandmother may have used. A couple of examples are: rubbing mud on a bee sting or a mustard pack for your chest cold. These are a couple of natural healing methods that did not come from a hip new herbal store. These ideas were passed down through the generations and many were never written down. If someone was to do their historical research, then they would find that most modern medicine had a basis of nature. Taking what was around them and using it to provide improved health.

Getting In Touch With You

Natural healing starts with an important fact and that is you. A person has to know how they work and when something is not right. You have to take inventory of all of you, physically and mentally. Combine that knowledge with Mother Nature. Many of these natural healing practices are products that are hardly manipulated by the human hand. Herbs that are simply combined with other herbs, breathing techniques and stretching, nature and man brought together for improved health. Once you are in touch with you and know how you tick, then it will be easier to find a method that works. Sometimes you combine different methods to achieve the result you want. It all works together.

In many ways, natural healing is not new. However, it is easier for someone to become educated in the history, types, and details of practices available. With this knowledge, a person can find the right combination of natural healing and living that works for them.

This is a report from Dr. Robertino Bedenian and has several websites dealing with self-health programs, pilates, baby care and pregnancy. I do publish articles on different genres of health, back pain and other non-medical topics.
